More than 40 former workers of the Bajo Sekulić Saltworks blocked the road at the entrance to Ulcinj at 11.00:XNUMX a.m. today in protest over unpaid wages and contributions. The blockade of the main road to Bar lasted almost an hour, and the protest gathering was secured by police, who directed drivers to alternative routes.
Worker representative Saša Mitrović said that the rally was not organized to cause problems for anyone.
"We don't want to cause anyone any problems, but they forced us into this radicalization. Our demands are the same - that the administration pay us back wages and link our service years to about five and a half years," Mitrović told "Vijesti".
For next Saturday, workers have announced a blockade of the roundabout at the Valdanos turnoff.
The decision to block the city's roads was made unanimously by the workers on Sunday, May 4, at a meeting marking the 20th anniversary of the introduction of reorganized bankruptcy in the oldest company in Ulcinj.
It was agreed at the meeting that the road blockades would initially last for one hour.
The bankruptcy administration owes workers around 900 thousand euros in unpaid wages and contributions for around five and a half years of service.
The workers believe that the time has finally come for the state to resolve their issue.
Solana has been in programmed bankruptcy since 2005, and in classic bankruptcy since 2011.
The last salt harvest was in 2013.
