URA: We are witnessing another alleged "economic venture" that raises suspicions that things are being rearranged again

"We expect the Government to answer why the deadline for the tender was extended, whether and which rules have changed in the last month, as well as to inform the public about the content of the letter from one of the companies that participated in the entire process, which, as we have learned, withdrew due to violations of basic competition rules," the Civic Movement URA said.

It is simply incredible that the Government of Milojko Spajić cannot bring any job to a close in a serious manner and without compromises that damage the international reputation of the country, the Civic Movement URA announced on the occasion of the opening of the concession for the Podgorica and Tivat airports.

"We expect the Government to answer why the deadline for the tender was extended, whether and which rules have changed in the last month, as well as to inform the public about the content of the letter from one of the companies that participated in the entire process, which, as we have learned, withdrew due to violation of basic competition rules," ERO stated.

As stated in the statement, the Government announced a few days ago that two other offers were under consideration regarding the granting of concessions for the airports in Podgorica and Tivat, while the French consortium withdrew from further participation.

"After the 'Great Beach' affair, through the government's tricks and 'fringe' activities, completely exposed the anti-state intentions of this majority, we are now witnessing another alleged 'economic venture' that raises suspicions that things are being rearranged again - and this when it comes to businesses of monopoly significance, such as the only two functional airports in the country," said URE.

They said that changing or violating rules during the process is a characteristic of frivolous people, with whom doing business becomes frivolous and harmful.

"URA has no intention of being an advocate for anyone, especially not private companies, nor do we believe that this process should have been conducted in this way. However, we have an obligation to citizens to protect our most valuable resources. It is true that the Airports of Montenegro are in poor condition and need a development plan, but ending the tender in such a way that one of the three companies that made it to the finals withdraws due to irregularities can permanently damage Montenegro's already shaken reputation, especially among European partners," the URA movement concludes.
