The total value of Vojislavljević Boulevard, whose construction began today, is 14,43 million euros including value added tax (VAT), and it will be completed in 18 months, the Ministry of Transport announced.
Deputy Prime Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Milun Zogović, announced that the project envisages the construction of public lighting, atmospheric and fecal sewage systems, water supply and telecommunications installations, and traffic and light signals.
He said that there will be six intersections on the stretch from 4th of July Street to the Morača Bridge.
Zogović praised the work of the Ministry of Transport and Minister Maja Vukićević and stated that this project also shows that this department works for the benefit of citizens.
The Ministry said that this is one of the significant infrastructure projects of the Capital City and that government department, which is being implemented through the Traffic Administration, namely the project to build a boulevard on Vojislavljevića Street, from the roundabout on 4. jula Street to the bridge over the Morača River.
"This involves the reconstruction of the existing road into a modern boulevard profile with a length of about 3,2 kilometers. The project envisages the construction of two carriageways with two traffic lanes each, a median strip, sidewalks and bicycle paths on both sides, as well as green belts - which gives a total road width of 24 to 26,5 meters," the statement said.
The construction of three roundabouts and three four-way intersections, with modern traffic lights, is also planned. In addition, works on public lighting, atmospheric and fecal sewage, water supply, telecommunications installations and traffic signals are included.
The works are financed by the Transport Administration in the amount of 9,12 million euros and the Capital City in the amount of 5,3 million euros.
The contractor is Crnagoraput, while supervision is carried out by Construction Supervision and Laboratory Testing. The deadline for the completion of the works is 18 months.
"This is not an isolated project, but part of the broader development vision of the Ministry of Transport when it comes to improving transport infrastructure, especially in the capital city of Podgorica," the statement said.
The Ministry said that their task is to relieve the city's streets, reduce congestion, noise and pollution, and most importantly, to increase the safety of all traffic participants, especially pedestrians and cyclists.
"It is our obligation to build a sustainable and functional transport system that meets the needs of a modern city and contributes to a better quality of life for all citizens," the statement concludes.
