Interdepartmental cooperation is key to preparing for the summer tourist season, announced Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić.
"The season will be as each department and each institution does its part of the work. Interdepartmental cooperation is key here, therefore it is important that all challenges are addressed to those in charge," said Kordić.
She reconvened a Special Session of the Coordination Body for Monitoring the Preparation of the Tourist Seasons, with the aim of checking the implementation of the conclusions and requests from the previous session, which relate to the challenges during the upcoming summer season.
Kordić emphasized that the tourist season is the most important topic for everyone in Montenegro, and that it must represent a common concern at every level, since tourism revenues account for around 30 percent of gross domestic product (GDP).
One of the key conclusions of the session is the proposal of the Coordination Body to review the possibility of banning the movement of heavy goods vehicles over seven tons during daytime hours, or rather, that the ban on the movement of these vehicles on the Adriatic Highway be in effect from 22 a.m. to XNUMX p.m.
Also, a request was sent to the police and traffic administrations to provide detailed information on the situation on main and other roads in Montenegro.
"The coordination body also asked the Traffic Administration to inform about the possibility of carrying out works along the Montenegrin coast during night hours, when tourist traffic is significantly lower, particularly emphasizing the need to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow on the Tivat-Jaz section during the season," the statement said.
The Montenegrin Electricity Distribution System (CEDIS) and the Regional Water Supply Company are responsible for submitting reports on the situation in the areas under their jurisdiction to the Ministry of Tourism within seven days.
The Ministry of Tourism will, in accordance with the information received, continuously inform the Government, so that all relevant entities are informed in a timely manner about the situation on the ground and can react promptly in order to efficiently implement the tourist season.
It was also announced at the session that, according to data from the Border Police, ten percent more tourist arrivals were recorded during April compared to the same period last year, while the number of tourists in April increased by 62 percent compared to March, indicating a positive trend before the start of the main season.
