Ten bids were received for the tender for the development of the main project and execution of works on the second section of the highway from Mateševo to Andrijevica, "Vijesti" learned from a source familiar with the process.
The tender for the second section of the highway was announced on February 28th on the website of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and was supposed to last until April 29th, but the deadline for submitting bids was extended to May 14th.
"Vijesti" is awaiting answers from the state-owned company Monteput, which is in charge of the tender procedure, to the questions of how many bids were submitted, who submitted bids and which countries the bidders are from, when the decision on the selection of bidders will be made, how much the construction of the second section will cost and how it will be financed.
Monteput recently told "Vijesti" that the tender for the development of the main project and execution of works on the Mateševo-Andrijevica highway section has been extended until May 14th, as several interested companies requested this in order to gain additional time for submitting documentation, and that it is expected that the contractor who will build that route will be selected by mid-year.
"The tender is being conducted according to EBRD procedures, which implies high standards of transparency, competitiveness and accountability at every stage of the process. After the deadline for submitting bids, a detailed evaluation phase follows. The goal is to conduct the process carefully, with full respect for legal procedures and standards, in order to select the most favorable and highest quality bidder for the implementation of this significant infrastructure project," the state-owned company stated.
