The mayors of the municipalities of Bar and Plav, Dušan Raičević and Nihad Canović, met on the sidelines of the R:ED conference with investor Muhamed Alabaro. The conversation aimed to present the development potential of their areas and open up space for possible investments, reports Mediabiro.

Raičević assessed the meeting as a unique opportunity to present the municipality to a serious investor, and recalled that Bar had previously nominated several significant projects, including the development of the Port of Bar, the construction of an airport, and projects in the field of real estate and tourism.

"We presented all of this in detail to Mr. Alabar. We hope for a positive outcome, because we need direct foreign investments to develop tourism and the local economy. The city of Bar has lost many opportunities in the previous period, we no longer have room for mistakes, nor for ignoring investors," said Raičević.

He pointed out that investments worth more than 200 million euros are currently underway in Bar, predominantly by domestic companies, but that a strong foreign partner would further improve the city's investment dynamics.

Canović focused on the potential of northern Montenegro and highlighted the location of Bogićevica as a key point of development.

"We presented Mr. Alabara with the planning documents, potentials and mutual benefits that could result from a possible investment. When it comes to investments in the north, we presented him with the potentials we have in Plav, specifically the Bogićevica location, what the planning documents regulate, what the possibilities would be and what the benefits would be on both sides - firstly for us as the public sector, and on the other hand for him as an investor. My impressions are excellent - he was open and concrete. In the coming period, we will communicate and see if there is a harmony between his interests and our development plans," said Canović, as reported by Mediabiro.

He added that the entry of a credible investor into Plav would mean strengthening the local economy, valorization of natural resources, and development of areas that have been neglected so far.

The presidents of the two municipalities emphasize that this is not the time for bidding on numbers, but for opening up space and creating a favorable environment for investments, which could significantly change the development picture of Bar and Plav.

The President of the Municipality of Kolašin, Petko Bakić, also met with Alabaro, and on that occasion presented him with two significant projects concerning Sinjajevina and Bjelasica.
