Montenegro's commitment to European integration and regional connectivity is concrete and measurable, through the adoption of laws, the implementation of capital investments and the strengthening of institutions, announced Minister of Transport Maja Vukićević.
"The transport sector is a key pillar of that vision," said Vukićević at the Transport Community ministerial meeting in Belgrade, where she presented Montenegro's key reform and infrastructure activities in the field of transport.
Vukićević addressed the gathering on two occasions – within the session dedicated to legislative harmonisation and during the discussion on the implementation of priority TEN-T projects.

In her first address, Vukićević emphasized that Montenegro has made significant progress in harmonizing its legislation with European regulations.
She emphasized that Montenegro is second in the region in terms of the level of implementation of activities from the Road Traffic Safety Action Plan, 79 percent of implementation.
Also, as she stated, significant progress has been made in the railway sector, where all obligations will be fulfilled through the planned adoption of the Law on Railway Safety and Interoperability, as well as through the new Railway Law, which will soon be submitted to parliament.
Vukićević also announced that activities are underway to align with European regulations in the field of passenger rights and air traffic management, and that Montenegro has already ratified amendments to the European Common Aviation Area Agreement (ECAA).
In her second address, Vukićević referred to strategic infrastructure projects and Montenegro's role in developing regional connectivity.
"Participation in the ministerial meeting once again confirmed Montenegro's active role in the structures of the Transport Community and its determination to contribute, through reforms and investments, to a modern, safe and sustainable transport network of the Western Balkans," the statement concluded.
