Around 40 former workers of the Bajo Sekulić Saltworks blocked the main road at the entrance to Ulcinj near Kips for an hour today, due to unpaid wages and contributions.

Last Saturday, after a blockade at the same location, they had announced a protest gathering for today at the roundabout for the Valdanos turnoff, but the police did not approve their request.

Their demands remained the same - to be paid 900 thousand euros in unpaid wages and to have their work experience linked to five and a half years.

Worker representative Saša Mitrović announced a blockade for next Saturday as well, at the same time and place.

"We are considering blocking the road for two hours instead of an hour," he told Vijesti.

The workers made the decision to block the city's roads unanimously on Sunday, May 4, at a meeting marking the 20th anniversary of the introduction of reorganized bankruptcy in the oldest company in Ulcinj.

It was agreed at the meeting that the road blockades would initially last for one hour.

The workers believe that the time has finally come for the state to resolve their issue.

Solana has been in programmed bankruptcy since 2005, and in classic bankruptcy since 2011.

The last salt harvest was in 2013.
