Increase in passenger numbers at Tivat airport

The summer season at Tivat Airport started significantly better than last year, as a total of 77.868 passengers passed through the airport's terminal building in April. This is 30,4 percent more than in the same month last year, when traffic amounted to 59.719 passengers.

During the past month, 430 aircraft take-off and landing operations were recorded on the runway next to the Tivat Bay, which is eight percent more than in the same month in 2024. Incidentally, the IATA summer season in commercial aviation begins on the last Sunday in March and lasts until the last Sunday in October. When it comes to Tivat Airport, April brought a significant increase in traffic volume in the number of aircraft, passengers, as well as the opening of a whole series of new regular seasonal lines and charter traffic to cities in Europe and the Middle East. In addition to the usual lines to Belgrade, among the most frequent routes operating from Tivat at the beginning of this summer season are lines to Israel, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

From the beginning of the year to May 1, the total traffic of Tivat Airport amounted to 200.261 passengers on 1.361 aircraft operations. The number of passengers in the first four months of this year is as much as 81 percent higher than in the comparable period last year. Tivat Airport achieved such results despite extremely limited and mostly dilapidated capacities, primarily in its Terminal 1, as well as the almost catastrophic state of the road access to the airport due to the construction of the boulevard from Jaz to Tivat, which has dragged on despite all previous promises from the competent authorities from the Traffic Administration, which is the investor of this work, that the section of the boulevard from Tivat Airport to the intersection for Dub, Trojica and Bigova in Grbalj would be completed and asphalted by the end of April.

According to earlier announcements from the management of the company Aerodromi Crne Gore, a total of 50 lines will operate from Tivat Airport this summer to various destinations in Europe, the Middle East, the Persian Gulf region and Central Asia. According to expectations, Tivat Airport will exceed the traffic volume from its previous record-breaking 2019 this year, and is expected to end the year with a total traffic of around 1,3 million passengers.
