The Minister of Transport, Maja Vukićević, and the Executive Director of Monteput, Milan Ljiljanić, signed, on behalf of the Government, a grant agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which represents additional support for the implementation of the project to construct the Mateševo–Andrijevica section of the highway.

"The grant in the amount of 300 thousand euros is intended to cover the costs of hiring a consultant who will provide support to the Project Implementation Unit, established within Monteput, until the completion of the project itself," the statement said.

Based on a public call for proposals issued in accordance with EBRD rules and procedures, Monteput selected the best-rated bid from the PPG consortium, Roughton International Ltd. Design and Construction Company – Roughton ECA.

"Consulting services will include support in the control of public procurement procedures, ensuring compliance with the provisions of the EBRD's procurement policies and rules, as well as monitoring the fulfillment of all contractual obligations, in particular by contractors and supervisors," the Ministry said.

An additional goal of engaging a consultant is, as it is added, the transfer of knowledge and skills to the Project Implementation Unit, through the demonstration of international standards and best practices in project planning and management.

"This is just one of the activities that has been successfully implemented with the aim of completing all necessary procedures and signing the Loan Agreement with the EBRD as soon as possible, as well as selecting supervision and contractors, so that the implementation of this strategically important project can begin in the second half of the year," the statement concludes.
