The construction of the House of Agriculture will soon begin in Pljevlja, and the value of the works according to the project is around 1,8 million euros.

This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management, Vladimir Joković, after signing a contract today with the contractor, the Tehnogradnja Consortium from Pljevlja and CEMA from Podgorica.

All activities are implemented within the MIDAS 2 project, which is financed by the World Bank.

Joković said that this is the first agricultural house to be built in Montenegro, and the construction deadline is 12 months. The agricultural house in Pljevlja will have about 800 square meters of usable space and will house state and municipal institutions dealing with agriculture.

"In line with our entry into the European Union, we must create six regional centers for agriculture," said Joković.

Joković said that he will sign a contract for the construction of an agricultural house in Berane next week.

"In Podgorica, when we move the Paying Agency, which is in progress, an agricultural house will be located that will be responsible for Podgorica, Tuzi, Zeta and Danilovgrad. We will also open an agricultural house in Bar, and a call for project documentation has currently been issued," said Joković.

He praised the good cooperation with the Municipality of Pljevlja, which provided the land for construction and exempted the investor from paying utilities.

Joković said that the World Bank had not provided money for the construction of new houses for agriculture, but that through his efforts, "and especially that of my colleague Gorica Radulović," they managed to change that.

"They always asked for an old state-owned building to be adapted. We were given one of the buildings in the city center, and then, at our insistence that it was not good to have an agricultural house in the city center, we managed to implement it," said Joković.

He said that all this is being done to make the status of farmers much better and more favorable.

"We know what Pljevlja represented in the past when it comes to agriculture. How much Pljevlja produced the famous Pljevlja cheese, but also meat. We want it to return. The Government of Montenegro is doing everything possible, and we can say that it has never been more favorable for agriculture than it is now. We will try to ensure that, if possible, subsidies are higher, so that agricultural producers have a pure economic interest in staying on their farms and engaging in even more intensive agricultural production. We have a big problem with displacement in the entire north of Montenegro, especially when it comes to rural areas," said Joković.

He pointed out that every euro that the Ministry allocated for Pljevlja was invested where it was intended, while this was not the case with some other municipalities.

The signing of the Agreement was also attended by the Mayor of the Municipality. Dario Vranes, as well as the State Secretary of the Ministry Krsto Radjenovic, Director of the Payments Directorate Marko Radonjic and manager of the MIDAS project Gorica Radulovic.
