With full respect for the institutional hierarchy and respect for the highest state officials, we feel the need to express concern about the way expectations regarding the decisions of the Board of Directors of the Airports of Montenegro (ACG) are communicated to the public, the ACG Board of Directors announced today.
"Namely, we consider it inappropriate to suggest via social networks, without a formal act or a clear legal framework, that Board members should vote on items concerning the distribution of the company's financial profit. The Board of Directors is a body appointed by the Government of Montenegro itself, and which has a legal obligation to act in accordance with the company's business interests and best corporate governance practices," the ACG Board of Directors said in a statement.
The Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milojko Spajić, announced earlier today on the social network X that, by decision of the Government, the partners in the future championship ambitions of the Basketball Club Budućnost will be Monteput and Airports of Montenegro, which will support the club with 1,5 million euros.
"We believe that before making a decision on profit distribution, development priorities should be clearly defined, as well as the management strategy of this important state-owned company. We believe that the focus of all stakeholders should be on development projects that will improve Montenegro's accessibility, quality of services and connectivity with European destinations in the long term. We also expect the Government's position on the concession issue, which has remained without a final decision for a long time, to be clarified soon," the ACG Board of Directors said in a statement.
They said that ACG has supported Montenegrin sports on several occasions, and that this remains their committed and responsible relationship.
"However, the manner of deciding on such obligations must remain within the framework of business logic, legality and respect for institutions. Also, according to the information we have, the Ministry of Transport has not been informed of any formal decision regarding specific donations to date," said the ACG Board of Directors.
They said that, taking all of the above into account, they believe that it is necessary for all important decisions to be made institutionally, clearly and transparently, and not through social networks, without official procedures and consultations with the bodies responsible for it.
"We are convinced that this is in the interest of the Government itself, the citizens of Montenegro, as well as all employees of Airports of Montenegro," said the Board of Directors of ACG.
