Energy policy is no longer a technical, but a fundamental state issue, said Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Šahmanović at a symposium on energy transition in Budva.
"At a time when energy independence is becoming a new geopolitical measure of strength, it is the responsibility of all of us to clearly define the direction - and to follow it resolutely," said Šahmanović at the opening of EPCG NET, organized by Elektroprivreda (EPCG).

As announced by the relevant Ministry, he thanked EPCG for its leadership in the transition towards sustainable and green energy sources.
"For Montenegro, as a candidate country for EU membership and an export-oriented economy, the energy transition is not only a matter of ecology, but also of competitiveness and access to the European market. Compliance with green standards is becoming an obligation, no longer a matter of choice," said Šahmanović.
He assessed that energy policy is no longer a technical issue, but the backbone of a modern state.
"A successful and fair transition to renewable energy sources demonstrates not only the maturity of our institutional system, but also the political will to build Montenegro as a stable, independent and climate-responsible country. The responsibility we take on today as the generation leading this transformation is to ensure long-term stability - economic, energy and social. That is why today we are not just talking about projects - we are talking about vision. We are not just talking about megawatts - we are talking about sovereignty," said Šahmanović.
The Acting Director General for Oil and Gas, Zorana Sekulić, on behalf of the Ministry of Energy and Mining, participated in a panel dedicated to women in business and energy, while the Acting Director General for Energy Efficiency, Božidar Pavlović, spoke on the panel "Consumers and producers connecting to the distribution system: problems and solutions".
EPCG NET 2025 brings together more than 300 participants from Montenegro, the region and Europe, and the focus of this year's gathering is on the role of renewable sources, digitalization of the power system and the challenges of the green transition.
