At the end of May, the Employment Service registered 28.799 unemployed people, of whom 30 percent or 8.441 were persons with disabilities. The unemployment rate was 9,91 percent, the lowest since the Employment Service began calculating it.
Of the total number of unemployed, 11,4 thousand or 40 percent are unskilled or semi-skilled workers. 14,3 thousand unemployed people have high school diplomas, and three thousand people with higher education are waiting for a job, of which 225 have master's degrees and 15 have doctorates.
Of the total number of unemployed, women account for 60 percent or 17,3 thousand.
18.150 registered unemployed people have been waiting for a job for more than three years, which is 63 percent of the total number of unemployed people. Women make up 60 percent of the unemployed who have been waiting for a job for more than three years.
There are four thousand unemployed people over the age of 60, and 50 thousand unemployed people between the ages of 60 and 6,9. So, those over the age of 50 make up 38 percent of the total number of unemployed people. Women make up 57 percent of the unemployed over the age of 50.
From the beginning of the year to the end of May, employers employed 4.686 people through the Employment Service. Of that number, 700 jobs were for unskilled or semi-skilled workers, two and a half thousand for secondary school occupations, and around one and a half thousand for people with higher education, of which 157 had master's degrees and five had doctorates. Compared to the same period last year, the number of employees increased by one hundred.
The most people in this period, according to the Institute's data, were employed in the field of education (850), followed by trade (786), catering and hotel management (662), processing industry (328), administrative and support service activities (326), transport and warehousing (286), state administration (269), construction (266),...
According to employer applications, the most sought-after occupation on the labor market is by far the person without a profession or education (completed primary school). Employers sought 431 workers with this "occupation".
In second and third place in terms of employers' interest are assistant caterers and doctors of medicine - 45 applications for employment each. Employers also sought 39 nurses, 37 maids and waiters, 36 health technicians and mathematics teachers, 29 preschool teachers, 26 road vehicle drivers and piano teachers, 24 receptionists and law graduates, 23 cooks, 20 construction ceramists, 19 drink dispensers,...
Petnjica reaches Podgorica in number of "people with disabilities"
In May, the unemployed registered with the Employment Service received benefits worth two million euros, 90 percent of which were for people with disabilities. Benefits from the Employment Service for people with disabilities are higher than for other unemployed people and range from 240 to 450 euros per month, in addition to pension contributions, and they can use them until retirement without the obligation to report to the Service and look for a job.
So the most money for these benefits goes to those municipalities where there are the most people with papers confirming their disability.
Of the two million, the most went to Berane, 463 thousand euros, where there are 1.941 people with disabilities, followed by Rožaje, 411 thousand, where there are 1.739 people with disabilities.
In Bijelo Polje, 172 thousand euros were transferred from the Institute's account in May on this basis, because there are 807 people with disabilities.
Although Podgorica has almost three times the population of Berane, Rožaje and Bijelo Polje, unemployed people in the capital received only 132 thousand euros, which is only six percent of the amount for the entire country. The reason for this is that only 603 people with disabilities live in Podgorica.
After the capital, the most money on this basis went to one of the smallest municipalities, Petnjica, 112 thousand euros, because there are slightly fewer people with disabilities living there than in Podgorica, 433.
"Vijesti" has been writing about fraud involving people with disabilities for three years, because the commissions in Berane and Rožaje issue as many disability certificates as in all other municipalities combined. The fraud is reflected in receiving benefits from the Institute and various other incomes on these grounds, as well as subsidizing the salaries of people with disabilities by up to 70 percent. The law does not limit the amount of salary that an employer can declare, so they often amount to several thousand euros. The law also does not provide for any forms of control and determination of whether these people are actually working and have work assignments or are employed only because of subsidies.
