Municipality of Bar: Construction prohibited in the coastal area from June 25th to September 8th

The commencement and execution of construction works is prohibited in the period from June 25 to September 8, 2025 in the coastal part of the municipality of Bar, in the area of ​​Čanj, Sutomore, Zeleni pojas, Žukotrlica, Topolica I, the coastal zone below the Adriatic Highway from the 'Ćafe' tunnel to the border with the municipality of Ulcinj, and in the inner core of Stari Bar and Virpazar.

The Municipality of Bar announced that this was prescribed by the Decision on the Prohibition of Construction Works during the 2025 Summer Tourist Season, which was adopted by the Mayor of the Municipality of Bar, Dušan Raičević, and, as added in the statement, with the aim of creating an environment for the highest quality tourist season and developing activities that improve the city's overall tourist offer.

"The types of construction work that are prohibited are the construction of new buildings, reconstruction work or work to change the state of the space, work to remove buildings at the request of the owner, work to adapt buildings and those that involve digging up public areas. At the same time, the ban on carrying out works does not apply to the removal of illegal buildings based on a decision by the competent authority, to work on the construction of state and local buildings of general interest, and work related to the installation, construction and removal of temporary buildings," the statement reads.

The Municipality of Bar said that exceptionally, upon a reasoned request from the investor, the Mayor of the Municipality may issue a decision approving the execution of construction works during the ban period, if it concerns urgent and emergency works on the repair of facilities and devices of communal and other infrastructure, necessary works on the repair of buildings when, due to damage, there is a danger to the life and health of people, and in other exceptionally justified cases.

"Supervision of the implementation of the Decision is carried out by the Municipal Police and Inspection Service, which will regularly conduct field visits to areas where construction work is prohibited and receive reports from citizens," said the Municipality of Bar.
