The shareholders' assembly of Željeznički prevoz (ŽPCG) appointed a new Board of Directors of the company, which now includes Slavko Vukcevic, Dejan Konatar, Goran Simović, Vlajko Nikolic i Natalija Asanovic, "Vijesti" was confirmed by several unofficial sources from this state-owned company. Simović was elected chairman of the board.
The decision was made at a session on Monday, after the members of the Board of Directors were proposed by the Government at the end of last week.
The board has not been able to work since mid-May, after one of its members Vladimir Djurišić resigned from that position. The Board of Directors of ŽPCG at that time also included Željko Miladinović, Pavle Popović, Dejan Konatar as well as the president Tripko Draganić.
The short-term dysfunctionality of the ŽPCG Board certainly does not help the process of merging the Maintenance of Railway Rolling Stock (OŽVS) with that parent company. The Faculty of Economics in Podgorica has prepared a feasibility study on this process, which has shown that the merger is necessary, because otherwise, OŽVS will end up in bankruptcy at this pace, which would further jeopardize the development of railway traffic. It is still not known when this process will be completed, nor within what period the audit firm “Hlb Mont Audit”, which has been engaged as a consultant in this process, must complete its work.
At the beginning of June, ŽPCG introduced a new passenger tariff and abolished the promotional ticket price, which is why the ticket on some sections is now twice as expensive as before. Thus, transportation from Podgorica to Nikšić and vice versa, instead of the previous euro and a half, you have to pay 3,2 euros, while for a ride from the capital to Bijelo Polje you have to pay 5,2 instead of the previous 3,5 euros...
ŽPCG told "Vijesti" at the time that "there was no increase in regular transportation prices, but only the cancellation of promotional tickets, and that the ticket costs substantially less than in 2008." The state-owned company had been applying these promotional prices for almost ten years.
