From the beginning of May to July 13, the Tax Inspectorate carried out 1,45 thousand controls, with an emphasis on respecting fiscal discipline and combating the shadow economy, and more than one million euros in fines were imposed.

"Given that during the summer tourist season there is an increased volume of economic activity, especially in coastal municipalities and tourist centers, the Tax Administration (TA) has intensified its activities, especially through increased inspection supervision," the TA said in a statement.

In the aforementioned period, a total of 215 irregularities were identified, and on that basis 304 misdemeanor orders were issued, with fines imposed in the amount of around one million euros.

The debt based on imposed fines amounts to 582,56 thousand euros, of which 344,68 thousand, or 59 percent, have been collected.

"Collection based on fines refers to taxpayers who have accepted misdemeanor liability and paid the imposed fines within eight days (reduced by a third in accordance with the Misdemeanors Law)," the statement added.

The measure of prohibition of carrying out activities was imposed on nine taxpayers.

In order to improve communication and strengthen mutual trust, the Tax Administration appealed to all taxpayers to act in accordance with applicable tax regulations, properly report income and issue fiscal invoices.

"We also invite all citizens to report any irregularities by calling the Call Center number 19707, or via the Be Responsible platform," said the Police Department.
