Local communities should be key partners in attracting investments and creating sustainable economic development, it was said at the Business Forum held in Gusinje as part of the "Diaspora Days" event.

The business forum titled "Roundtable on Economic Cooperation with the Diaspora - Perspectives and Challenges" was organized by the Ministry of Diaspora and the Municipality of Gusinje.

The Ministry of Diaspora announced that the goal of the forum was to strengthen economic cooperation between the diaspora and the home country through joint initiatives, investments, and development projects.

"The participants exchanged experiences, identified specific challenges faced by returnees and potential investors from the diaspora, and considered mechanisms that can improve the investment environment in the Municipality of Gusinje," the statement said.

The forum concluded that a systematic and long-term approach to economic cooperation with the diaspora is needed, along with strengthening institutional support and creating special incentives for investors from the diaspora.

"It was emphasized that local communities should be key partners in attracting investment and creating sustainable economic development, and the importance of transferring professional skills and knowledge from the diaspora to the home country was emphasized," the statement said.

The forum brought together members of the diaspora, successful entrepreneurs from the diaspora, representatives of local governments, institutions and the civil sector, and, among others, speakers included the Minister of Diaspora Mirsad Azemović and the President of the Municipality of Gusinje Sanel Balić.
