The Law on the Legalization of Illegal Structures, adopted today, comprehensively and sustainably responds to the decades-long challenge of illegal construction, combining economic, social, legal and spatial aspects into a single normative framework, the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property announced.
"The law encompasses key dimensions: the economic aspect - enables the launch of investment activities through the legalization of property, increasing local government revenues and activating the real estate market; the social aspect - protects the rights of citizens living in illegally constructed buildings and provides an opportunity to resolve long-standing property and legal insecurity; the legal aspect - establishes a clear, transparent and fair legalization procedure, with precise competencies, deadlines and control mechanisms; the spatial development aspect - supports the planned development of settlements, protects space and the environment, establishing a balance between public and private interests," the statement reads.
