The Tax Administration (TA) achieved gross tax revenue collection of 955,4 million euros in the first seven months of this year, which is 3,3 million more than in the same period last year, its representatives announced.
They said that value added tax (VAT) collection amounted to 295 million euros, which is 21 percent more than the previous year.
The Tax Administration collected 216 million euros in corporate income tax, which is 18 million more than last year.
"230 million euros were collected on the basis of contributions, or 102 million less than in the comparable period. The decline was expected in accordance with the amendments to the Law on Contributions for Mandatory Social Insurance, which reduced the contribution rate, which is part of the Government's overall fiscal policy aimed at relieving labor," explained the PA.
During the summer tourist season, the Tax Administration, according to its representatives, generates significant budget revenues through intensifying activities aimed at increasing the level of voluntariness in reporting and paying tax obligations, strengthening proactive communication and service approach towards taxpayers, as well as through increased inspection supervision.
"The planned activities are continuing with the aim of increasing the efficiency of revenue collection, and the following period will also be marked by a growth trend," the Public Administration announced.
