The significant drop in the number of guests during July compared to last year was also reflected in lower revenues from the collection of tourist tax. This is confirmed by data from the Local Public Revenue Administration of the Municipality of Budva, submitted to "Vijesti", according to which in the first seven months of this year, some 60 thousand euros less was collected than in the same period last year.
The Local Public Revenue Administration of the Municipality of Budva, as stated in its response to "Vijesti", is directed by Vesna Kovačević, the authority responsible for collecting local public revenues such as residence tax, real estate tax and real estate transfer tax.
Namely, according to official data from this municipal service, in the period from January 1 to July 1 this year, 2.056.984,90 euros were collected, which is less than last year, when 2.118.171,56 euros were collected in the same period.
We remind you that the amount collected from the tourist tax goes to the Budva Tourist Organization, which directs the money predominantly towards the promotion of the tourist destination and the organization of numerous tourist entertainment events, festivals and events.
According to the latest breakdown of tourist traffic in Budva and data from the Tourist Organization, currently (as of July 31st) there are a total of 39.812 guests staying, which represents a one percent decrease compared to the same day last year.
Of the total number, 16.182 guests are staying in hotels, while 23.630 guests are staying in other types of accommodation, including private accommodation, campsites, hostels and resorts. The most numerous guests in collective accommodation are from Serbia, Great Britain, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Israel, Russia, Turkey, Austria, Albania and France.
According to preliminary data from the Statistical Office - Monstat, the municipality of Budva recorded a total of 2025 arrivals and 244.809 overnight stays of guests in collective accommodation in the period January - June 792.854.
Compared to the same period last year, there was a two percent increase in the number of arrivals, while the number of overnight stays decreased by four percent.+
"Budva's share in the total tourist turnover of Montenegro, when it comes to collective accommodation for the period January - June, is 40 percent in arrivals and 43 percent in overnight stays," the richest Montenegrin tourist organization told "Vijesti".
Appeal from Starograd residents to the police
The "Stari grad" local community has sent a request to the Budva Security Department for, as they stated in a letter that "Vijesti" had access to, an increased presence of police officers in the Budva Old Town area.
"We kindly ask you, if you are able, to ensure the regular presence of police patrols in this part of the city, especially during the midnight and early morning hours. We believe that the presence of uniformed police officers in the late night hours - especially in the period from the closing of bars until the early morning hours - would have an exceptional preventive and calming effect," the "Old Town" Local Community emphasizes.
Only 125 tourists from Montenegro in Tivat
There are currently 10.044 officially registered tourists staying in all types of registered accommodation on the Tivat Riviera, which, as announced yesterday by the local tourist organization, is at the level of visits at this time last year.
Compared to the same period in the so far reference and record year 2019, there has been a general increase in tourist visits of around two percent.
A total of 98 percent of those currently vacationing on the Tivat Riviera are foreigners - 9.919 of them, while only 125 tourists are from Montenegro.
The most numerous visitors to Tivat are currently tourists from Serbia, numbering 2.578, which makes up 31,51% of the total guest structure.
The top ten source markets from which guests arrive in Tivat include visitors from Great Britain, Germany, Ukraine, Turkey, Croatia, France and the United States.
The largest number of tourists in Tivat use the services of private accommodation providers, with 8.182 guests staying there. Owners of apartments for rent are recording a slightly lower occupancy rate compared to the beginning of August last year.
On the other hand, hotels are recording a significant increase in arrivals of as much as 29 percent compared to the same period last year, or six percent compared to the beginning of August 2019. Currently, 1.696 tourists are vacationing in Tivat hotels. SL
