The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management will, in accordance with its capabilities, take all measures to assist agricultural producers and compensate for the damage caused by the fire, said the relevant Minister, Vladimir Joković.
Together with State Secretary Krsto Rađenović and Director of the Directorate for Agriculture Miroslav Cimbaljević, he today visited the Pipera area near Podgorica, which has been affected by fires in recent days.
"Ministry representatives were able to see on site the extent of the damage caused to citizens and agricultural producers in this region. A large number of agricultural plots, plantations and auxiliary facilities suffered significant damage or were completely destroyed, which further endangered the existence of numerous households," the statement reads.
Joković, it was added, "spoke with locals and farmers, listened to their needs and emphasized that the Ministry, in accordance with its capabilities, will take all measures to help producers and compensate for the damage."
"We are aware of the gravity of the situation you find yourself in. The Ministry will, in accordance with available funds and legal possibilities, strive to provide support and mitigate the consequences caused by these fires," Joković emphasized.
The Ministry announced that, in cooperation with the Government, and through the Commission for the Assessment of Damage from Natural Disasters, chaired by the Minister, it will ensure that citizens are compensated and that part of the damage suffered is compensated.
"The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management will continue to monitor the situation on the ground and, in cooperation with local governments and other competent institutions, undertake activities aimed at remediating the consequences," the statement reads.
