Elektroprivreda (EPCG), which is celebrating its 115th birthday today, stands as a liquid, stable and creditworthy company, and in times of global energy challenges, it maintains security of supply, maintains electricity prices at the same level, and records an increase in the number of users and regular payers.
"EPCG stands today as a liquid, stable and creditworthy company, and through numerous donations it makes an immeasurable contribution to the development of health, cultural, sports and social life in Montenegro," the statement said.
This year's anniversary, which confirms a tradition that is more than a century long, but also the strength to move decisively towards the future, is marked by new major energy ventures.
The focus is on projects that lead EPCG through the green transition: the construction of the Gvozd wind farm, the continuation of the Solari 5000+ program, the ecological reconstruction of the Pljevlja thermal power plant, as well as innovative energy storage projects.
"A decision was recently made to launch a public tender for the procurement of two battery systems with a total capacity of 240 megawatt hours (MWh). This is an investment that will significantly improve the electricity system of Montenegro and enable even stronger integration of renewable sources," EPCG said.
EPCG Day, August 19, is celebrated in memory of the distant year 1910, when King Nikola commissioned the first power plant in Cetinje. The power plant at that time, with two 110 kW diesel engines, lit up the streets of the capital and marked Montenegro's entry into the era of technological progress.
From the Montenegrin Electricity Company to today's EPCG, 115 years of rich history and grandiose energy projects have passed. Today, just as in the past, EPCG is a pillar of the development of the state and society, but also a leader in the modern energy transition.
"With the vision that Montenegro becomes part of the European family of countries that will use exclusively clean energy by 2050, EPCG continues to build a future in which each new generation will have a safer, greener and more sustainable energy environment," the statement concludes.
