Tax inspectors conducted 2.667 inspections in the period from May 1 to August 17, during which they found irregularities in 526 taxpayers, and on that basis issued 706 misdemeanor orders, with a total of fines imposed in the amount of 2.181.800 euros.

The debt arising from the imposed fines amounts to 1.316.656 euros, of which 711.071 euros, or 54 percent, have been collected.

"Collection based on fines applies to taxpayers who have accepted misdemeanor liability and paid the imposed fines within eight days (reduced by one third in accordance with the Misdemeanors Act)," the Tax Administration announced.

The measure of prohibition of carrying out activities was imposed on 24 taxpayers.

During the aforementioned period, as they explained, special focus was placed on accommodation providers - apartments, villas, mini hotels, hotels, where 167 controls were carried out, 89 irregularities were found and 185.400 euros in fines were imposed.

In accordance with strategic goals, all available capacities are being used to implement inspection procedures, in order to cover all taxpayers, especially those who fall into the high-risk category in terms of compliance with tax regulations," the statement reads.
