Mirković resigned as director of Marina Bar

Danko Mirković, captain of a long-distance vessel and former director of Marina Bar, a company in majority state ownership, resigned from his position yesterday and informed the Board of Directors about this at yesterday's meeting.

Mirković confirmed this to "Vijesti" and said that the decision to step down from the leadership of Marina stemmed from a new professional opportunity that was offered to him.

"It's about taking over a newbuilding powered by alternative fuels. Such challenges are rare in a seafarer's career, and for me as a young commander they represent a significant step forward, a source of professional fulfillment, honor and satisfaction," said Mirković.

He is grateful, as he stated, for having had the opportunity, together with his colleagues and members of the Board of Directors, to actively contribute to the development of AD Marine Bar and its stronger positioning on the market.

Mirković was at the helm of the Bar Marina for a little over a year, and he considers the greatest achievement during that time to be improving the quality of services and strengthening the competitiveness of Marina Bar, which, as he said, directly contributed to record results in 2024 when it comes to revenue.

He says that revenues in the first six months of this year increased by about 93 percent compared to the previous year.

In terms of investments, he particularly highlighted the implementation of the ERP system (business obligation and resource planning software) which enabled digital transformation and optimization of business processes.

Daily and monthly parking tickets at the Bar Marina became cheaper in February this year, the monthly ticket was reduced from 60 to 30 euros, while the price of the annual ticket remained the same, 150 euros.

Another novelty is that the card reading system for entering the parking lot has been replaced with a system for reading the license plates of vehicles for which a monthly or annual ticket has been paid, in order to reduce abuse.

During Mirković's mandate, the Rulebook on the conditions and criteria for exercising the right to use public utilities was adopted, which determined the rules for exercising this right in a transparent manner. At the same time, an initiative was launched to the competent authority to regulate the aforementioned matter through legal regulations.

In addition, the Terms of Business and the Marina Rules of Order were adopted. The adopted documents state that they are “instruments that are directly applicable to all berth use contracts and daily operations, ensuring clear contractual rights and obligations, consistent service standards and legal certainty for marina users.”

He is particularly proud of the fact that they managed to resolve the dispute with the Belmonte company without long-term consequences for Marina, and they ensured this through responsible business practices, he emphasized.

In March this year, Marina Bar had to pay almost 800.000 euros to the offshore company "Belmonte System LTD" from the Marshall Islands, as ordered by the Court of Appeal, which upheld the ruling by which the Commercial Court obliged Marina to pay that amount to the foreign company.

The verdict is the epilogue of several court processes lasting almost 15 years and dating back to the failed privatization of Marina in 2009, when the state sold 56,34 percent of the shares to a consortium of Latvian companies "SIA Multikapitals" and "Latvijas Krajbanka".

"Although the company paid the awarded amount according to the court decision of the inherited dispute, the stability of the business was not disrupted in any way thanks to previously accumulated funds. Planned investments were realized, capacities were filled by the end of 2025, and everything points to the most successful business year in the history of Marina Bar," he assessed.
