The parliamentary majority, "through its henchman", the chief special prosecutor Vladimir Novović, privatized the Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) and subordinated it to protecting its leaders from criminal liability for misdeeds committed from the most important functions in the system, announced MP and spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Sonja Popović.
He recalls that the Court of Appeal confirmed that the state, due to the termination of the contract signed by the current Prime Minister and then Minister of Finance Milojko Spajić and the Mayor of Herceg Novi Municipality Stevan Katić, should pay more than four million euros for the Meljine-Petijevići road to the company "Universal Monte", which is owned by Serbian businessman Vuk Hamović.

"As the Montenegrin courts, the Commercial and Appellate, have given their assessment regarding the specific case, the question arises as to why the Special State Prosecutor's Office, headed by the Chief Prosecutor Vladimir Novović, has been silent for almost four years about the possible corruption case in which Milojko Spajić is potentially involved? Because the current parliamentary majority, through its henchman Vladimir Novović, privatized the Special State Prosecutor's Office and subordinated it to protecting its leaders from criminal liability for the misdeeds they commit from the most important functions in the system," the statement reads.
Popović asked the SDT and the "selective Novović" what happened to the Meljine-Petijevići case?
"Aren't all these years enough to complete the investigation? Hasn't the investigation already been completed and why isn't the SDT informing the public about it? Probably because the investigation determined multi-million-dollar damage to the state? In the end, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Vladimir Novović's prosecutorial silence continues regarding the criminal acts committed by the current government, because through his actions and inactions, he has degraded himself to the role of a contractor for the persecution of political dissenters of this government," said the DPS MP.
