The north of Montenegro is not a forgotten region, but a national priority and the engine of the future development of the country, said the Minister of Regional Investment Development and Cooperation with Non-Governmental Organizations, Ernad Suljević.
He spoke today in Bijelo Polje at a panel as part of the Regional Business Forum 2025 "Perspective of the North", the Ministry announced.
"The development of the north is not a matter of choice, but a national imperative. Our department builds bridges between investments, local communities and international partners. The north of Montenegro must become a generator of sustainable growth - through infrastructure development, support for small businesses and stronger cooperation with the private and civil sectors. Only through joint efforts can we ensure that the potential of the north is turned into opportunities for all citizens," said Suljević at the panel "North of Montenegro - National Priority or Forgotten Region?".
He emphasized that the future of the north is crucial for the overall development of Montenegro.
The forum was officially opened by the Mayor of Bijelo Polje, Petar Smolović., The panel also included speakers: Mayor of Plav Municipality Nihad Canović, Ambassador of Austria Christian Steiner, and Head of the Cooperation Sector at the EU Delegation Bernard Brune.
The event brought together representatives of the Government, the diplomatic corps, domestic and international organizations, local governments, businesspeople and representatives of civil society, including the President of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro Nina Drakić, the UNDP Resident Representative in Montenegro Ekaterina Paniklova, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Montenegro Caroline Tiso...
"The forum represents a key platform for the development of northern Montenegro, attracting investments, strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises, and actively involving local communities, businesspeople and women in creating new opportunities and improving the economic and social development of the region," the statement reads.
