A total of 274.711 passengers passed through both terminal buildings of Tivat Airport during August, which is 21,9 percent more than in the same month last year.
A total of 2.707 aircraft takeoff and landing operations were recorded on the runway next to the Bay of Tivat last month, which is an increase of 12 percent compared to August 2024.
Tivat Airport achieved this excellent result in difficult conditions, working with insufficient and dilapidated spatial capacities of the Terminal 1 building, a technically insufficiently efficient Terminal 2, and huge problems with road access to the airport due to construction works on the Tivat - Jaz boulevard and frequent traffic delays on this section of the Adriatic Highway. In addition, the operations of Airports of Montenegro are additionally "slowed down" by the state's several-month delay in making a final decision on the fate of the concession procedure for the possible issuance of airports in Tivat and Podgorica for a thirty-year lease to a foreign partner, which is why the current, state-owned operator of Tivat Airport is largely "tied" from investing much faster and more efficiently in the urgently needed expansion and modernization of the airport's capacity.
Otherwise, from the beginning of this year until September 1, Tivat Airport recorded a total traffic of 982.480 passengers and 10.457 aircraft takeoff and landing operations.
Tivat Airport is also announcing a much more successful upcoming winter IATA season than last year, as in addition to the national airlines of Montenegro and Serbia, Air Montenegro and Air Serbia, which fly from Tivat to Belgrade and Istanbul in the winter, the Turkish national airline Turkish Airlines will also have regular flights to Istanbul seven times a week. Regular flights from Tivat to Yerevan will also be operated twice a week by the Armenian company FlyOne Armenia throughout the winter, and during two of the five months of the winter IATA season, the Israeli Sun d'Or - a subsidiary of the Israeli national airline El Al - will also operate regular flights to Tel Aviv from Tivat.
