Montenegro's participation in the Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal has multiple significance for the country, and the key is the continuation of harmonization with the highest international standards in air transport, the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) announced.

ICAO adopts standards and recommendations that are the foundation of safe, secure, efficient and environmentally sustainable air transport.

The CAA said that the presence of the Montenegrin delegation demonstrates its commitment to ensuring that the country's regulations and practices are fully aligned with international standards.

"The door is open for Montenegro, as well as other member states, to strengthen its position in global aviation, given that direct contacts with other countries and organizations contribute to greater recognition and credibility of our civil aviation system," the CAA stated.

According to them, an active role in ICAO processes provides access to training programs, projects and initiatives that strengthen the professional capacities of institutions.

The CAA said that the ICAO Assembly, where key decisions are made that shape the future of international air transport, also provides an opportunity for bilateral meetings with numerous states and international partners, as well as an exchange of views on challenges.

Minister of Transport Maja Vukićević said that Montenegro remains committed to modernization and harmonization with international standards.

"This is an opportunity to exchange experiences, as well as to discuss possibilities to improve infrastructure, strengthen professional capacities and, ultimately, contribute to the development of the Montenegrin economy," said Vukićević.

Agency Director Ivan Šćekić emphasized that active participation in the 42nd ICAO Assembly confirms commitment to high standards of safety and security in air transport, as well as the goal of constantly improving this area.

"It is also important to strengthen the reputation of a reliable partner in international aviation," said Šćekić.

The ICAO Assembly, which is held every three years, brings together representatives of 193 member states, including Montenegro, and is currently electing members of the Council.

Among the numerous issues are topics of importance for the development of aviation - safety and security, air traffic management, innovation and new technologies, environmental protection, market liberalization, development plans and reports.

The trip of the Montenegrin delegation to Canada, which includes Vukićević, with associates, and Šćekić, with associates, is not financed from the state budget.
