Alabar wants to build on Šasko Lake

Delegation of the Arab billionaire's company "Eagle Hills" (EH) Mohamed Alabara today, in Ulcinj, they are expected to conclude a joint investment agreement with one or more private land owners on the slopes of Lake Šasko, "Vijesti" has learned from several sources. According to the same sources, the delegation will be personally led by Alabar.

"Negotiations have been ongoing for a long time and are heading in such a direction that tomorrow we can expect the conclusion of a joint investment agreement. This is a unique tourist eco-center that will be built according to the highest European and world standards," said our interlocutor directly involved in the negotiations yesterday.

According to information from "Vijesti", it concerns a little more than five hectares of land for which there is a valid local location study.

"This investment is important for the whole of Ulcinj because it will very likely attract other investors, so that the city can finally move from a dead end to a planned valorization of its valuable resources," said our interlocutor.

The questions of "Vijesti" regarding this arrangement from the company "Eagle Hills Montenegro" were not answered.

"The issues you have addressed are beyond the mandate of my responsibilities in the company. Namely, I do not deal with these matters, you must ask the company's management in Abu Dhabi," replied the Director of Communications, Marketing and Institutional Cooperation of "Eagle Hills Montenegro" Ana Martinovic.

Alabar came into the spotlight of the Montenegrin public in March this year due to his intention to invest a huge amount of money in our country, primarily on the Velika Plaza beach in Ulcinj.

Leader of the Democratic Union of Albanians (DUA) and MP Mehmed Zenka At the end of March, he announced that the Prime Minister Milojko Spajic at a meeting with the leaders of the Municipality and Assembly of Ulcinj, MPs from that city and heads of parties and councilor clubs, he explained the intention of Arab investors to lease the entire Velika Plaža for 99 years - from Port Milena to the mouth of the Bojana.

This was followed by several large protest rallies, at which citizens of Ulcinj and other Montenegrin cities, politicians, and the civil sector unconditionally demanded that Spajić abandon the long-term lease of Velika Plaza.

At an extraordinary session on March 27, the Ulcinj Municipal Assembly expressed concern about the non-transparent procedure and the announcement that the company "Eagle Hills Properties" could, with the blessing of the Government, lease the Big Beach for 99 years.

Due to public pressure, Alabar abandoned the project on Ulcinj's Velika Plaza in mid-May, stating that he was interested in other locations on the coast, as well as in the north of the country.

Meanwhile, the tender for the lease of Montenegrin beaches in March was marked by the (un)expected participation of Alabar, whose newly founded company "Eagle Hills" submitted bids for 19, and was ranked first for 9 Ulcinj beaches.

After harsh public reactions, the company decided to give up on seven beaches because the former tenants agreed to pay its guarantees for participation in the tender, and concluded a lease agreement with JP Morsko dobro for two beaches, "Tropikana" and "Imperijal".
