"While prices are rising uncontrollably, almost on a weekly basis, the Government has no strategy to protect citizens from inflation that is reducing their standard of living every day. Populist announcements about economic measures have been reduced to political advertising and one-off moves without any effect on the market," said Mileta Radovanić, Secretary General of the Civic Movement URA.

"The prices of basic foodstuffs have increased by 60 to 100 percent on average, which clearly shows the extent of inflation and the complete absence of responsible economic policy, with citizens' purchasing power declining despite increases in salaries and pensions," he added.

Radovanić noted that, while URA was part of the government, it showed through the Stop Inflation campaign that price increases could be mitigated with clear measures, dialogue with traders and targeted support for domestic producers. He pointed out that, despite global crises, market stability and citizens' standards were preserved.

Radovanić therefore called on the Government to relaunch the Stop Inflation campaign, which, he said, can greatly contribute to price stability and strengthen the purchasing power and living standards of citizens.

"Instead of responsible and clear policies, today we have improvisation where everything is reduced to political marketing, with the Government trying, with mere statistics, to conceal the reality that citizens see on the shelves and in their wallets. URA will continue to point out that Montenegro needs a sustainable economic policy and propose ideas through our Montenegro 365 program," concluded the Secretary General of GP URA.
