Montenegro and Ukraine have room to strengthen trade ties and attract investment, especially in the energy, infrastructure and logistics sectors, it was assessed at an online business forum of the two countries.
The Chamber of Commerce (PKCG) announced that the event was organized to encourage economic dialogue, create new opportunities for cooperation, and contribute to direct contacts between representatives of the business communities of the two countries.
"The perspectives for the development of the Montenegrin-Ukrainian economic partnership were discussed, with a focus on key areas of bilateral cooperation, including strengthening trade ties and attracting investments. Special attention was paid to the priority sectors of energy, infrastructure and logistics and the possibilities for the development of agro-industrial complexes and the food industry," the statement said.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Montenegro, Nina Drakić, said that data on trade exchange between the two countries show encouraging trends.
"Last year, this exchange was balanced, as exports from Montenegro covered 96 percent of imports from Ukraine. This is a strong indicator of diversification and potential for future growth," Drakić assessed.
According to her, the agriculture, logistics and food processing sectors represent a natural starting point for new partnerships, while tourism is also an important link between the two nations.
The President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, which brings together more than eight thousand companies from all regions of the country, Gennady Chizhikov, assessed that Montenegro is a friendly and open country for cooperation.
He added that, despite the war conflicts, the Ukrainian economy is working and looking for opportunities to connect with partners.
"We are not asking for help, but are here to talk with Montenegrin partners about business opportunities and huge possibilities for cooperation and export of agricultural products. Montenegro can also be a kind of hub for the export of our agricultural products to the Balkans and beyond," said Chizhikov.
He pointed out that Ukrainian industry also has great potential for development, as does the ICT sector.
"Although large, Ukraine is a country of small and medium-sized businesses. We want representatives of your companies to come and find partners among Ukrainian businessmen," Chizhikov said.
The Ambassador of Ukraine to Montenegro, Oleh Herasimenko, announced that the two countries are connected by a common European future.
"Ukraine is interested in joint investments, exchange of experience and attraction of investments. The Embassy is always ready to be a reliable partner in this work," said Herasimenko.
The Ambassador of Montenegro to Ukraine, Borjanka Simićević, believes that both countries are connected by economic cooperation and a desire for development.
"There is strong potential for strengthening cooperation, new opportunities for business development and investment are opening up. Montenegro offers excellent investment opportunities, low taxes, and support for entrepreneurship," said Simićević.
The forum presented the economic and investment potential of the two countries and held bilateral online discussions between businessmen.
