Montenegro can have a good future with an economy that is open, free and market-oriented, said the President of the Board of Trade Associations of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PKCG), Jovan Lekić, and called on the participants of the European Parliament of companies to invest in our country.

At the European Parliament of Enterprises held today at the European Parliament in Brussels, organized by Eurochambers, he said that Montenegro wants to be where it has belonged for centuries - in the European community of rich nations, and that wealth first comes from economic development.

"I invite you to invest in Montenegro, to develop your businesses, but also to help us to more successfully improve the domestic economy. I am sure that we have something to offer each other. Welcome to Montenegro, welcome Montenegro to the European Union," said Lekić, who is also the president of the NALL Group.

He stated that Montenegro is a Mediterranean country, with a picturesque culture and rich history.

"A country that gained its informal independence even before the Berlin Congress in 1878, as the 27th country in the world. A country that had the first printing press in the Balkans, Oktoih, back in 1494, showing even then that it belonged to advanced and civilized nations," said Lekić.

It is the largest event in the EU where business people, over 700 of them, "became" members of the European Parliament for a day. They discussed and voted on the most important topics that are currently at the center of the political debate: European trade strategy in a changing global environment - the impact of global economic changes, protectionist policies and the new geopolitical environment on the business of European companies, accessibility of the internal market and investment - measures to strengthen the single market, reduce administrative barriers and encourage cross-border investment, and decarbonization through competitive industry - balancing climate goals and economic growth, while supporting innovation, affordable energy and sustainable financing.

A delegation of Montenegrin businessmen, led by the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Montenegro, Nina Drakić, also participated in the work of the European Parliament of Enterprises.

The delegation also includes the President of the Assembly of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Montenegro and the Executive Director of Kastex, Stevan Karadaglić, the Executive Director of Jadroagent and a member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Montenegro, Vojo Banović, as well as the Coordinator for Cooperation with International Chamber Associations, Balša Ćulafić.

EPE 2025 participants had the opportunity to address high-ranking representatives of the European Parliament and the European Commission, including European Parliament Vice-President Victor Negrescu, Eurochambers President Vladimír Dlouhý, as well as MEPs Anna Cavazzini, Christian Ehler and Jörgen Warborn.

Through interactive sessions and voting, entrepreneurs presented concrete messages to European institutions about the needs and priorities of the business community. The results of the voting will be consolidated and presented to the European Commission and Parliament as the "voice of European entrepreneurs".

"EPE once again confirmed its role as an important mechanism of economic democracy, connecting European institutions and the real sector. The event reminded us that entrepreneurs are the key drivers of economic development, innovation and employment in Europe," the statement concluded.
