The European Commission's (EC) Progress Report on Montenegro for this year confirms the outstanding results achieved in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economic Development, said the relevant Minister and Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy, Nik Đejošaj.
He said that the EC's annual progress report on Montenegro further fills them with pride and encouragement.
"Because the report confirms the extraordinary results we have achieved in the areas under the jurisdiction of our ministry," stated Đeljošaj.
The EC, as he said, highly assessed Montenegro's progress in Chapter 3 - Right of establishment and freedom to provide services and Chapter 6 - Commercial law.
According to Đeljošaj, this is a direct result of the successful and dedicated work of the Ministry of Economic Development.
He said that the EC also positively assessed the progress in Chapter 7 - Intellectual Property Law, which was temporarily closed last year.
"This shows that our efforts to align with all European Union (EU) standards do not stop even after the chapter is closed," said Đeljošaj.
This, he pointed out, further confirms Montenegro's determination to become a full member of the European family.
"We expect to close, among other things, Chapters 3 and 6 by the end of the year, which means that the Ministry of Economic Development, in a period of less than two years, played a direct and key role in closing a record five negotiation chapters," said Đeljošaj.
He added that this is the best proof that clear and dedicated work opens the doors to the EU.
Đeljošaj said that during the next year, the focus of activities will be on chapters 1 - Free movement of goods, 8 - Competition policy and 28 - Consumer and health protection.
"Work on these chapters is ongoing, with visible progress in alignment with the EU acquis in chapters 1 and 28, as well as progress in strengthening the legislative framework in chapter 8," said Đeljošaj.
