At today's meeting of the Board of Directors of the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG), held at the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant, the results of the work and implementation of activities on the project of ecological reconstruction, adaptation of the boiler and chimney, and district heating of Pljevlja were discussed.
It was concluded that the project is proceeding according to the planned schedule, with the assessment that satisfactory results have been achieved so far and that the implementation is fully in line with the contracted obligations and investment plan, Elektoprivreda announced.
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Milutin Đukanović, members of that board, Acting Executive Director Bojan Đordan, members of the company's management, as well as the Executive Director of the Pljevlja Coal Mine, Nemanja Laković.
Đukanović thanked the partners for their "exceptional cooperation and support", emphasizing that the ecological reconstruction is the largest investment undertaking in the history of the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant.
"Despite the challenges that accompany every major investment, the project is progressing successfully and we expect its safe commissioning as soon as possible. In addition, the EPCG group is implementing other significant projects in Pljevlja, including the relocation of the Ćehotina riverbed, which represents a total investment worth around 100 million euros in the past three years," emphasized Đukanović.
Đordan said that the successful implementation of the project is the result of good coordination and commitment of all participants.
"This project confirms the ability of the EPCG Group to carry out demanding tasks in accordance with the highest environmental and technical standards. Thanks to joint work with partners from the Coal Mine and the engagement of domestic companies, we expect the works to be completed even before the contracted deadline, which further confirms our efficiency and commitment to our goals," said Đordan.
Laković said that cooperation between the two companies is crucial for the stability and development of the energy system.
"The Pljevlja coal mine and the Pljevlja thermal power plant have a common goal - to ensure long-term reliable and environmentally sustainable energy production. Projects such as the ecological reconstruction and relocation of the Ćehotina riverbed show that by working together we can simultaneously improve production and protect the environment," Laković pointed out.
After the session, the Minister of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property, Slaven Radunović, and his associates visited the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant. During the tour of the plant, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the implementation and quality of the work performed, Elektroprivreda announced.
"It is gratifying to see that the works are proceeding according to the planned schedule and that EPCG has made significant efforts to ensure that the project is in line with all European standards. This project has broader significance - it contributes to the closure of Chapter 27, maintains the long-term economic and social stability of the municipality of Pljevlja and creates conditions for new investments," Radunović pointed out.
Elektroprivreda announced that, in cooperation with the relevant ministry and other partners, it will "continue to transparently inform the public" about all phases of implementation and further activities in the modernization of Montenegro's energy system.
