In the first phase, we will cover the needs of the Pljevlja Coal Mine (RUP), then the EPCG group, and we also plan to enter the wider market, announced RUP Executive Director Nemanja Laković.
RUP announced today that Laković, along with his associates, visited the personal protective equipment (PPE) production facility, where preparations for the start of work are nearing completion.
The statement added that this project allows RUP to independently produce a complete textile PPE program for the first time.
"After a year of the idea of starting our own production of PPE, we can say that all production capacities and machines are ready. In the first phase, we will cover the needs of RUP, then the EPCG group, and we also plan to enter the wider market. In a very short period of time, significant work has been done to make the facility ready for the start of training and production," said Laković.
RUP said that the training process, conducted by consultants with many years of experience, was organized for 20 employees.
As pointed out by Milan Dragašević, Director of the Sector for Strategic Management and Business Transformation, in the initial phase, work will be carried out in one shift, with a planned monthly capacity of around 400 suits.
"After the tenders were conducted, the plant was equipped with 30 modern machines - 20 for basic and 10 for special sewing, which enable the application of the most modern technology in production. The adaptation of the space of the former 'Tara' Knitwear Factory, once intended for ready-made garments, was carried out by the RUP Construction Group, which ensured a high-quality and safe working environment," said Dragašević.
RUP announced that starting next year, the company will not need to call for external procurement of this piece of equipment.
"So far, we have allocated around 800.000 euros per year for complete protective equipment, of which 60 percent of the value was made up of ready-made equipment. By starting our own production, we will not only create new jobs, but also further strengthen the development potential of the company and the city, and significantly reduce overall costs," said Laković.
"Vijesti" announced today that RUP is finalizing all preparations for launching PPE production as part of the Just Transition and Business Transformation Plan, and that the new production facility will employ 20 workers, for whom theoretical and practical training begins this week.
