Montenegro and Turkey signed a decision of the Joint Committee established by the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, replacing Protocol II, which relates to the definition of the concept of originating products and methods of administrative cooperation.
The decision was signed by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development, Nik Đeljošaj, and the Turkish Ambassador to Podgorica, Bariš Kalkavan.
Đeljošaj said that by signing the decision, they are ensuring the smooth functioning of diagonal cumulation of origin of goods.
"Modernized rules of origin mean easier access to markets, greater competitiveness of Montenegrin products and strengthening economic ties with Turkey, but also with other partners in the PEM zone. The decision represents another step towards harmonization with European standards and improving Montenegro's international trade relations," said Đeljošaj.
Djeljosaj and Kalkavan said they expect the decision to suspend the visa-free regime to be withdrawn, emphasizing that the visa-free system is crucial for the development of trade and economic relations between the two partner states.
