The state-owned company Monteput announced today that it has signed a contract with the company "Građevinarstvo i savjetovanje" from Podgorica for the execution of works in the Sozina tunnel, worth 2.411.034 euros.
As stated in the announcement, the works will include the repair of cracks in the Sozina tunnel by grouting with final painting of the lining.
"Works are planned to include the injection of wet and dry cracks, reprofiling of the secondary tunnel lining and reprofiling of expansion joints, as well as work on coating the secondary tunnel lining. All phases are monitored by ongoing tests related to the aforementioned works, for the purpose of quality control and verification of the technical correctness of the performed interventions," Monteput said in a statement.
The company said that the contract was signed on November 24, 2025, from which the deadline for the execution of the works of 550 days is calculated.
"The work will be carried out at night, from 22 p.m. to 6 a.m. From June 15, 2026 to September 15, 2026, the work will be suspended due to the tourist season and increased traffic towards the coast," it says.
They added that during the implementation of the project, they will ensure increased professional supervision and coordination of all participants, so that the work is carried out in accordance with the applicable technical standards for tunnel facilities.
"The public and tunnel users will be informed in a timely manner about any temporary changes to the traffic regime, with an appeal to drivers to respect the posted signage and restrictions in the work zone. The goal of the reconstruction is to preserve the stability of the tunnel structure and improve the safety and quality of traffic through the Sozina Tunnel in the long term," the statement reads.
Monteput pointed out that in the last three years they have invested more than 3,36 million euros in the modernization and maintenance of the system in the Sozina and Raš tunnels and access roads.
"The works included local roadway reconstruction and the first phase of secondary tunnel lining reconstruction, replacement of the asphalt wearing course on the open route and bridges, replacement of expansion joints on bridges, upgrading adaptive lighting in tunnels, video surveillance on the open route, additional slope protection in cuts, as well as improving the passive safety system," the statement concludes.
