The Chamber of Commerce (PKCG) established the Regional Blue Economy Network (RBEN) to create a permanent platform for cooperation and knowledge exchange between key stakeholders in the blue economy.
In this way, it is stated that it contributes to the development of innovation, workforce transformation and sustainable economic growth in the Adriatic-Ionian region.
The regional blue economy network was established within the framework of the international project GROWTH4BLUE, which is co-financed through the Interreg IPA ADRION program, with funds from the European Union.
On this occasion, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Montenegro organized an event at which the concept of the Network, its strategic goals and planned activities, as well as the role of RBEN as a mechanism for long-term cooperation between the public and private sectors, educational and research institutions, and innovative and environmentally oriented business entities were presented.
The project manager of the GROWTH4BLUE project, Tanja Radusinović, presented the project's objectives, activities so far and next steps, emphasizing that the blue economy represents one of the key development potentials of the Adriatic-Ionian region, but also an area in which a coordinated approach, modern skills and a stronger connection between education and the labor market are necessary.
"The Regional Blue Economy Network is designed as a permanent platform, not a one-off project activity. Its purpose is to connect stakeholders shaping the development of the blue economy – from institutions and businesses to academia – so that we can jointly address the challenges of workforce transformation, innovation and sustainable resource use," said Radusinović.
Participants were introduced to the strategic directions of RBEN, which include improving knowledge and skills in blue economy sectors, encouraging technological and organizational innovations, developing so-called "blue" jobs, as well as strengthening regional and cross-border cooperation.
Special focus is placed on long-term sustainable management of marine and water resources, as well as on better alignment of educational programs with labor market needs.
The event was marked by a meaningful and constructive discussion, during which participants, through the exchange of knowledge, experiences and expert opinions, provided concrete proposals for the further development of the network, especially in the areas of strengthening innovation potential, adapting skills to the needs of the labor market and sustainable development of the blue economy.
By establishing the Regional Blue Economy Network, PKCG further confirms its active role in regional initiatives aimed at strengthening transnational cooperation, exchanging good practices and creating sustainable development models in the field of blue economy, within the framework of the joint engagement of partner institutions of the GROWTH4BLUE project.
