The director of the Durmitor Tourist Center, Marinko Purić, resigned from his position due to an accident that occurred on Saturday at the Savin Kuk 2 ski resort, in which a German citizen was killed and his wife was injured.

"I made this decision the moment I arrived at the scene of the accident and saw that one person had been killed, but due to the widespread publicity, I waited until the investigation and survey were completed to inform the public about my resignation. A tragic event in which one human life was lost represents an extremely difficult feeling for every institution within which it occurred and every person who is part of that institution. Although, according to all available facts and documentation, there is no personal or professional guilt in my work, for the reasons previously stated, I made the aforementioned decision," Purić stated in his resignation, which he submitted to Nikola Tripković, President of the Board of Directors of Razvojna Banka.

Razvojna banka is the owner of the Durmitor Tourist Center.

"During more than four years of hard work, together with the employees, I have dedicated myself to the development and improvement of the Savin Kuk ski resort. During that period, the ski resort has been raised to a significantly higher level than before, the infrastructure has been improved and the value of each individual facility has increased," continued Purić.

He pointed out that two important development projects have been implemented: the construction of a tubing lane and the first phase of the artificial snowmaking system.

"The operation of the ski resort was carried out smoothly, with successful winter and summer seasons, during which more than 100.000 passengers were transported in the summer months, while over 50.000 ski passes were sold in the winter seasons," he added.

He once again emphasized that the cable car and ski resort had all the required documentation for operation, including: valid solutions and permits for the transport of passengers by cable car, inspection reports, steel rope testing reports, proper records of installation work, a report on electrical installations, a temporary permit for the operation of the ski resort for 2025, as well as the detailed design for the reconstruction of the Savin Kuk 2 cable car from 2015.

"Despite that, I am leaving this position with deep regret for the tragic event, with expressed condolences to the victim's family and with the hope that the institutions will fully shed light on all the circumstances of this case. With the conviction that I performed my duty honorably, responsibly and in the best interest of the ski resort and citizens, I make this decision with a clear conscience," concluded Purić.
