The Chamber of Commerce (PKCG), through its partnership participation in the CSupMNE project and the active involvement of its associations, continues to contribute to strengthening the dialogue between the academic community, the economy and institutions, with the aim of building a coordinated and sustainable approach to cybersecurity in Montenegro.
Organized by PKCG, as a partner institution in the project CSupMNE - Strengthening Cybersecurity of the Higher Education System in Montenegro, an expert meeting dedicated to strengthening cybersecurity was held, with a special focus on the role of higher education, the ICT sector and banking in responding to modern digital threats.
The CSupMNE project coordinator, Professor Ramo Šendelj from UDG, presented the key objectives of the project and its importance in the context of strengthening the resilience of the higher education system, but also of the broader digital ecosystem of Montenegro.
He emphasized that cybersecurity requires a coordinated approach from academia, industry, and relevant institutions, with strong reliance on the practical experiences of sectors already exposed to high levels of digital risks.
"The CSupMNE project is aimed at establishing sustainable and systemic solutions for managing cyber risks in higher education, but also at stronger connections between universities and the economy and institutions. PKCG, as a partner in the project, plays an important role in connecting the academic and business sectors, especially through the inclusion of the ICT and banking sectors, which have developed security practices and significant operational experience," emphasized Šendelj.
The Acting Director of the Cybersecurity Agency, Samir Orahovac, said that this institution, as the central national body in this area, has the task of unifying the state's efforts in responding to cyber threats, protecting critical information infrastructure, and improving coordination between the public and private sectors.
The role of the Agency will not only be reactive – to respond to incidents – but above all proactive: to establish standards, recommendations and good practices, provide expert support to key and important entities and contribute to raising awareness throughout society.
The Secretary of the ICT Committee, Nada Rakočević, announced that this gathering format is of particular importance for the ICT community.
"The ICT sector plays a key role in the development and implementation of modern cybersecurity solutions. Through the CSupMNE project and the partnership participation of the Chamber of Commerce of Montenegro, space is being opened for stronger cooperation between ICT companies, academia and institutions, which is a prerequisite for the development of domestic capacities and competitive security solutions," said Rakočević.
The Secretary of the Board of the Banking Association, Almer Bećiragić, emphasized that the banking sector recognizes cybersecurity as one of the key operational and systemic risks.
"The banking sector is continuously facing sophisticated cyber threats, which is why it has developed procedures and protection standards. The exchange of experiences with the academic community and the ICT sector, within projects such as CSupMNE, contributes to strengthening overall digital resilience and raising the level of security at the national level," said Bećiragić.
The CSupMNE project addresses strengthening cybersecurity in the higher education system of Montenegro through the implementation of systemic and structural reforms that enable better assessment, protection and management of growing digital risks.
The project focuses on improving the capacity of universities to deal with modern cyber threats, developing tools and procedures for risk assessment and mitigation, as well as mapping and promoting the ICT sector as an important actor in improving overall digital security.
