The Ministry of Maritime Affairs aims to provide better and safer working conditions for seafarers, said the relevant Minister, Filip Radulović.
"The Ministry's goal is to provide safer and better working conditions for all seafarers through open dialogue and strengthening the legislative framework," said Radulović at a meeting with representatives of the Montenegrin Sea Captains' Association.
The Ministry said that the meeting discussed the current situation in the maritime sector and improving the working conditions of seafarers. They added that further cooperation was agreed to ensure better and safer working conditions for seafarers, as well as to strengthen the overall maritime safety system.
Radulović informed the representatives of the Association about the results of the work of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs to date, as well as the shortcomings that the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) recorded in its latest report.
Representatives of the Association were also presented with the measures that the Ministry has successfully implemented so far in order to eliminate these shortcomings.
Radulović also emphasized the importance of the umbrella law in the field of maritime affairs, the Law on the Safety of Maritime Navigation, which introduces greater order into the system and ensures a higher level of safety at sea.
The President of the Association of Sea Captains, Ivica Fažo, and a member of the Association's Board of Directors, Aleksandar Niković, presented their views on the situation in the maritime sector and expressed their full willingness to cooperate with the Ministry and other relevant associations and stakeholders in that field.
