The Sveti Stefan local community announced that the state of Montenegro did not include them in negotiations with the tenant, the company "Adriatic Properties", regarding the opening of the Sveti Stefan-Miločer complex.
They emphasize that they support the opening of the "Sveti Stefan" city hotel and the inclusion of Novak Djokovic as a mediator in the negotiations, but they are against the construction of apartments in Milocer Park and the closure of hiking trails.
"Recently, rumors have emerged about an agreement between the State of Montenegro and the lessee of the Sveti Stefan-Miločer hotel complex, Adriatic Properties. Unfortunately, for us, these are rumors, because to date, no one has officially informed us about the above, nor has anyone included us in any way or at any level in the process, in which decisions are made about a key resource, a vital interest of the place, and what our ancestors built, preserved and affirmed to the highest world heights. As such, we are very interested and are closely following all developments that have been and will be related to the lease of Sveti Stefan and Miločer," they state in a letter submitted to "Vijesti".

The correct sequence of steps, as they point out, would be for "someone to officially inform us from the highest level at which the aforementioned agreement is being prepared, for its content to be explained and clarified to us, so that we have the opportunity to express our opinion in a civilized manner and thus prevent tomorrow's controversial situations."
"Given that we learned about the agreement through the media, we will briefly address it through the media. We absolutely support the opening of the hotel and the use of the hotel complex for tourism purposes, and this is our highest goal and priority. We also fully welcome the involvement of Novak Djokovic as an intermediary, advisor, or his participation in any other way. We believe that Novak Djokovic, as a renowned athlete and humanitarian, can contribute to returning the Sveti Stefan and Miločer hotels to their former place of recognition and success. What makes us concerned is the information that is being disseminated, which refers to further devastation by the construction of the Miločer park, the closure of pedestrian paths, and the restriction of access to public areas. For this reason, we inform the public and decision-makers that any construction of apartments for sale within the space that has been leased is unacceptable, as well as that the restriction of the use of public areas is unacceptable," they said in a statement from the Sveti Stefan Local Municipality.
They remind that the devastation of the Miločer park and the construction of apartment buildings for the market were condemned by all current government officials at the municipal and state levels, who were in the opposition at that time.
"Numerous irregularities were noted at that time, from illegal construction, to illegal closure of spaces, to harmful annexes, guarantees given and mortgages placed on state land, for which the competent institutions and the prosecutor's office were called upon to react. Therefore, all this obliges government representatives even more to not allow what they were against and what they themselves stated to be illegal."
The allegations about the loss of the arbitration dispute and the payment of one hundred million euros are not true, because according to all the information we have, the success of the state is certain, but despite that, it is important to point out that the planned construction of 63 apartments for sale, where the square meter is at least ten thousand euros, and taking into account that the project envisages apartments from 70m2 to 300m2, will result in the tenant's income of one hundred and twenty to one hundred and fifty million euros, so we have a situation where by worrying about one hundred million euros, the loss of which is absolutely uncertain, we are allowing a much greater financial and spatial loss, which is certain. Because of all the above, it is important to point out that no one can take care of Sveti Stefan and Miločer more and better than the locals and Paštrovići, who are ready to accept and welcome everything that is good, and there will be an adequate reaction to the opposite," conclude the Sveti Stefan Local Community.
