The councilors of the Mojkovac Municipal Assembly will decide at the session scheduled for today on the proposal for a decision to grant financial support totaling 90.000 euros, intended for companies and entrepreneurs from Mojkovac, whose business operations are threatened in 2024 due to the reconstruction of Ljubomir Bakoč Square.
This money should be allocated from the budget for next year, and the aim of the support is to mitigate the consequences of the decline in traffic and help preserve local businesses and jobs.
As stated in the explanation, business, especially in summer gardens, which generate the highest turnover throughout the year, is significantly jeopardized by the start of work on the Square. Fixed labor and business costs remain high, which poses a challenge for the survival and preservation of a quality workforce in Mojkovac, the proponents remind.
For companies and entrepreneurs registered in the hospitality and tourism sector, 70.000 euros have been allocated. These funds will be distributed in a one-time payment, proportional to the number of permanent employees. According to data from the Tax Administration of Montenegro, Mojkovac Branch, there are a total of 17 permanent employees with businesses operating on the Square, and the amount of support per permanent employee is 4.117,65 euros.
Among the beneficiaries of subsidies in this sector are the companies “Delić” doo, “Dulović” doo, A&B doo “Hugo”, “Radulović NS” doo, “7. januar” doo, “Markoni sur”, and “Fortuna Sam” doo.
In addition to catering and tourism, the Municipality intends to provide 20.000 euros for companies engaged in trade on Ljubomir Bakoča Square. The distribution of these funds will also be based on the number of employees, and the beneficiaries of the subsidies should be “Panorama Marketi” doo, “Dulović” doo, “Sanja NDJ”, “Swisslion Takovo” doo, “Matino Company” doo, and “Centar 12” doo.
The reconstruction work on the Mojkovac square began this summer, and residents and caterers from the center of Mojkovac have repeatedly expressed their dissatisfaction with the way it is being carried out. They claim that the project, worth more than two million euros, instead of bringing progress, is creating serious and insurmountable problems in their daily functioning. On this occasion, they organized a protest, at which they explained that the work is being carried out unplanned, without adequate coordination and notification. Trenches, protective barriers and closed accesses drastically complicate movement in the central zone of the city. Some business facilities, they claim, are almost cut off from their usual access, which directly threatens their business and existence.
The Municipality of Mojkovac has previously provided financial assistance to companies and entrepreneurs in the hospitality and tourism sectors, whose operations were threatened by the complete closure of traffic on the Mojkovac-Đurđevića Tara regional road this summer.
