The new Law on Games of Chance represents a significant step forward in improving the regulatory framework in this area, introducing clear rules aimed at protecting public health, strengthening responsible behavior, and preventing addiction to games of chance, the Ministry of Finance announced.
One of the key innovations relates to advertising by gambling operators.
"In accordance with Article 19, paragraph 1 of the Law, advertising of games of chance in public places is prohibited. This further regulates public space and reduces the exposure of citizens, especially minors and vulnerable categories of the population, to advertising content that may encourage risky behavior," the Ministry said.
Prohibited advertising includes highlighting the name of the organizer of games of chance, as well as the use of logos, trademarks, colors and other visual identity elements by which the organizer is recognizable, regardless of whether the advertising message contains a direct invitation to participate in games of chance.
Also, as they explained, it is prohibited to advertise gambling services through the promotion of specific games, references to the organizer's address, its website or mobile application, as well as any promotion of benefits related to gambling, such as bonuses, jackpots, prizes, free spins and similar content.
"The ban applies to all forms of advertising in public spaces, including advertisements, billboards, panels and other publicly visible surfaces that contain the name and/or logo of the gambling operator, as well as messages related to gambling services and benefits," the statement said.
At the same time, the Law provides for clearly defined exceptions.
It is permitted to display the name and logo of the organizer on facilities where games of chance are organized, in accordance with the law, provided that such marking does not contain an invitation to participate in games of chance.
Also, branding of own or rented vehicles used for the activities of the organizer is permitted, exclusively with the logo, without promotional messages or invitations to play.
"These measures represent an important step towards creating a more orderly and responsible social environment, in which the freedom to do business is balanced with the interests of public health and the protection of citizens. Special emphasis is placed on reducing the negative impact of advertising content about games of chance in public spaces, as well as on preventing excessive and risky participation in games of chance," the Ministry added.
The competent institutions call on all organizers and other business entities to consistently comply with legal provisions, reminding that their non-compliance constitutes a violation and entails legally prescribed sanctions.
"Consistent implementation of the Law contributes to strengthening citizens' trust and building a society that responsibly manages the risks associated with games of chance," the statement concludes.
