Prime Minister Milojko Spajić will lead a delegation that will participate in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) in the United Arab Emirates from January 13 to 15.
This was decided at today's telephone session of the Government, and the delegation will also include: Minister of Energy and Mining Admir Šahmanović, Minister of Public Works Majda Adžović, Head of the Prime Minister's Office Tanja Musterović, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Economic Policy Milena Milović, and Advisor to the Prime Minister for Public Relations Jovana Bojović.
"Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is an international event held annually in Abu Dhabi and brings together leaders from governments, business, science and the civil sector from around the world. The event focuses on sustainable development, clean energy, climate solutions, innovation and international cooperation in addressing global challenges. During the Week, conferences, panel discussions, exhibitions, business meetings and accompanying events dedicated to the energy transition and sustainable economic models are organized," the government document states.
Spajić was invited to participate in the event by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The Prime Minister's participation will include attending the opening ceremony of the event, as well as participating in a panel discussion entitled: "Energy Corridors for a Sustainable Future: How Developing Economies are Building Cross-Border Energy Infrastructure to Boost Growth, Strengthen Energy Security, and Accelerate the Transition to Sustainable Energy Systems."
"As part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, attendance at the Zayed Sustainability Prize award ceremony is planned, which is awarded to projects with a significant positive impact on society and the environment," it added.
The Government said that the Prime Minister's participation in this prestigious international forum represents confirmation of Montenegro's "strong commitment" to the principles of sustainable development, energy transition and strengthening energy security, as well as its active participation in global processes aimed at a sustainable future.
"Presence at this global forum allows Montenegro to actively participate in the international debate on energy security, sustainable development and climate policies. Participation in the aforementioned event will be an opportunity for Montenegro to promote its development and energy potentials, as well as to position itself as a reliable partner and attractive investment destination, especially in the areas of green energy, energy infrastructure, innovation and new technologies," they add.
As part of the visit, the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) and the Emirati company "Masdar" is also planned, which, as the Government said, will further improve cooperation in the field of renewable energy sources and sustainable energy projects.
During his stay in Abu Dhabi, Spajić is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies and Chairman of Masdar, Sultan Al Jaber, as well as the CEO of G42, Peng Xiao. The government said that the company is a global leader in the field of artificial intelligence development.
"Bilateral meetings and the signing of the above-mentioned Cooperation Agreement will further strengthen relations between Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates, especially in the fields of energy, investments and new technologies," the document states.
The costs of the Montenegrin delegation's participation in Sustainability Week are borne by the organizer and the individual authorities.
