At the Kolašin 1600 state ski resort, four six-seater Trglava (K8) slopes, the "Sidro" and "Tanjir" ski lifts, and a beginner's slope were in operation yesterday.
"Vijesti" was unofficially told that there were more than 1.100 skiers and snowboarders at the ski resort.
On the first skiing day of this season, the nine million euro K7 ski lift at the state ski resort was not operational, due to damage to the terrain during private works a year and a half ago, which "Vijesti" has written about on several occasions...
Bojan Medenica, executive director of the Ski Resort of Montenegro, which includes the Kolašin 1600 Ski Center, wrote on his Facebook profile that the preparation for this season represented "many difficult moments, and no help from anywhere."
"Vijesti" previously announced that Serbia and Montenegro will not receive 150.000 euros in aid from the government for the preparation of the season, as expected, because the Competition Protection Agency (AZK) recently determined that this would constitute uncoordinated state aid...
Medenica said that the goal of the employees and his was "to show that ski resorts can and must be the axis of development of the north."
Medenica expects that the snowfall and the final start of the season will "show what ski resorts mean to Kolašin and Montenegro." In addition to skiing, he announced a wealth of activities for visitors at the Kolašin 1600 ski resort.
Two days ago, the private, neighboring Kolašin 1450 ski center said that part of the infrastructure is operational, and that they are awaiting the competent inspections, after whose approval it will be known which slopes can still be open...
Yesterday, the police allowed as many vehicles to enter the Kolašin ski resorts as there was space in the parking lot, because parking on the road near the ski resort is not allowed, which is often resorted to by visitors.
As "Vijesti" was unofficially told by the Kolašin police, the road lanes on the section from the city to Bjelasica, which is part of the Kolašin-Berane regional road, should be passable for the machinery that maintains that road.
Due to the large number of vehicles heading towards Bjelasica, there were occasional traffic jams and congestion on the road.
According to unofficial information from "Vijesti", the police returned some of the buses and cars to the "Savardak" restaurant.
During the past two winters, due to a lack of snow and an unrealized artificial snowmaking project, there were barely 20 ski days at the state ski resort.
