Prime Minister of Montenegro Milojko Spajić spoke today in Davos with the Minister of Finance of Qatar, Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari.
As announced by the Government, during the meeting it was emphasized that Montenegro and Qatar want to improve economic cooperation, and that this interest was confirmed by the Government's decision to open the Embassy of Montenegro in the State of Qatar, with headquarters in Doha.
Al Kuwari, it was added, expressed his pleasure that Qatar would host Spajić at the Qatar Economic Forum in May this year.
At the meeting, it was agreed to intensify cooperation with the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and Qatar Investment Advisory (QUAI), an institution that connects the state and private sector of Qatar, through the organization of a business forum.
Also, the Government announced that work is underway in parallel on agreements to avoid double taxation and protect investments.
"The importance of establishing a direct airline between Montenegro and Qatar, or between Podgorica or Tivat and Doha, was particularly emphasized. The possibility of a line from Qatar covering the entire Arabian Peninsula region was highlighted, given the country's position as a regional hub. Stressing that Montenegro is in the final phase of the negotiation process with the European Union, Prime Minister Spajić presented a development plan and the possibility of participating in road infrastructure projects in Montenegro," it was announced.
