The Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) announced that the implementation of functional tests of the flue gas denitrification (DeNOx) plant at the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant began yesterday. This, they said, marks "another significant step" in the project for the ecological reconstruction of that energy facility.
"During the first tests, it was confirmed that the plant is functioning at a high level, and initial measurements showed extremely encouraging results. Nitrogen oxide emissions have already been reduced to around 130 mg/m³, which is within the designed values and many times lower than in the previous period, when emissions were around 470 mg/m³," the Facebook post reads.
They said that they will continue with additional parameter adjustments and system optimization, and "expectations are that the results will be even better", which will make the Pljevlja Thermal Power Plant "fully meet strict environmental standards in the field of environmental protection".
"These results represent another clear confirmation of the justification and success of the ecological reconstruction of the TPP, a project of exceptional importance for improving air quality, reducing harmful emissions and the long-term sustainability of the Montenegrin power system," the announcement reads.
