Last year, ferries of the Maritime and Coastal Transport Sector of the Public Enterprise Morsko dobro from Budva transported a total of 1.671.000 vehicles of all categories on the only ferry line in the country, Lepetane - Kamenari, which is slightly more than in 2024.

This was told to "Vijesti" yesterday by the head of this sector, which is headquartered in Lepetani, Captain Aleksandar Crvenko.

According to him, the traffic structure on the ferry line last year recorded slightly fewer small passenger cars compared to the year before, but the number of vans, buses and trucks that were transferred by ferries from one side of the Veriga Strait to the other increased.

The JPMD maritime and coastal transport sector achieved a total revenue of 9,016 million euros last year, exceeding the company's financial plan, which predicted a figure of nine million euros for the ferry line's performance in 2025. The ferries of the former Maritime Transport, when owned by the Ban brothers, had a total revenue of 6,5 million euros in 2022.

"We had a successful business year by all parameters. Last year, we completed the overhauls of the remaining three ships from the fleet of eight ferries we have, with a general repair of the propulsion engines and its 'Schottel' propellers on the 'Grbalj' ship," said Crvenko, emphasizing that ferry ticket prices did not change last year, that is, they remained at the same level as in 2023, when "Morsko dobro" took over the ferry service from the previous private operator of this line, the company "Pomorski saobraćaj" from Herceg Novi.

According to internal records, the most productive ferry last year was the "Igalo" ferry, which transported a total of 385.983 vehicles of all categories and, based on the average price of ferry tickets sold, recorded a turnover of 2.081.679 euros. The second most productive was the "Teodo" ferry, with 324.818 vehicles transported and a turnover of 1.751.805 euros, and the third-placed ferry was the "Trideseti avgust", with a total of 297.257 vehicles transported from one side of the bay to the other and a turnover of 1.603.163 euros.

The largest ferry in the "Morski dobr" fleet - the ship "Ruka pravde" - transported a total of 294.844 vehicles in 2025 and generated a turnover of 1.590.150 euros, while the performance of the ship "Grbalj", which was out of service for almost five months last year due to a major overhaul and regular general repairs of the propulsion system, transported 115.077 vehicles and generated 620.632 euros. The small ferry "Kamenari" transported 139.213 vehicles and generated 750.802 euros, "Lepetane" 113.523 cars and 612.327 euros, while the third twin - the ferry "Perast" - was almost not used last year because there was no need for it, so this ship ended 2025 with only 268 vehicles transported and a turnover of 1.445 euros.

Last year, Morsko dobro generated a total of 9.012.004 euros in revenue from ferry tickets sold.

The ferry "30. Agust" was purchased for 570 thousand, with an overhaul that cost another half a million, while the largest ferry "Ruka pravde" was purchased for 3,2 million euros.

Crvenko said that they currently have 3.100 so-called preferential tickets issued for citizens of the Herceg Novi municipality and 1.850 such tickets for residents of Tivat, which allow them to pay for a car ferry ticket at a price of three instead of five euros, which is what it costs for all other service users.

"We also have 280 issued tickets for people with disabilities who use ferries for free, while 316 users from the categories of state services (army, police, firefighters and ambulance) also use ferry transport for free. A total of 547 postpaid payment contracts have been concluded with various users - mainly companies whose vehicles often use ferries, and a total of 2.300 postpaid cards have been issued to them. Monthly tickets, which include significant discounts for a larger number of ferry crossings, currently have 171 users," said Crvenko, adding that last year, however, due to various recorded attempts to abuse these rights, 53 preferential tickets were taken away from residents of Tivat and Herceg Novi.

Currently, four boats operate on the Lepetane - Kamenari ferry line during the day shift, so there are no crowds or long delays for cars at the piers. According to the winter timetable, two ferries operate in the evening between 22 pm and midnight, and one ferry from midnight to 24 am.
